EBCF Privacy policy

Ennis Book Club Festival aims to protect your privacy and to ensure compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Any information you provide in association with the Festival is used in accordance with this privacy policy statement and with GDPR.

Contact Lists

We invite you to join our mailing list through our website, social media and at various events. This list is used to contact people about upcoming events, news and announcements, for feedback or other information, generally through email and social media. We keep this information until you notify us that you no longer wish to receive this information. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link on the electronic communication or from this website.

We also maintain contact lists for specific purposes, such as volunteering and other specific projects, where your opt-in is requested. You can unsubscribe at any time from these lists.

Your personal data will only be shared with third parties including other data controllers where it is necessary for the performance of the data controllers’ tasks.  For example, we may ask a supplier to send out newsletters on our behalf, or to maintain our database software or to provide us with administration, IT and other related services. Email contact is made using Mailchimp.

Website

You do not need to register your personal information in order to use our website.

You may submit personal information by filling out the ‘Get in Touch’ form, or by email. If you submit personal information to the website, the information will be used for the purposes you requested. The information may be stored and maintained. We will use your personal data only for the purpose for which it was collected, unless we obtain your specific consent to other uses, or unless otherwise required or permitted by law.

We may collect information about your activity at this website. The website may automatically recognise and store information about the type of browser you are using, you Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, the time, the date, the length of your visit and the referring site. This information is collected via computer code sent to your computer (commonly referred to as “cookies”).

Our website includes hyperlinks to, and details of, third party websites. We have no control over, and are not responsible for, the privacy policies and practices of third parties.

Photography

Photographs are taken at events at the Festival and are available on our website and may be used for promotional purposes. If you would prefer not to be included in any photographs, please let either the photographer or one of our volunteers know. Photographs of children and vulnerable adults are published only with the consent of their parents/carers.

Online purchases

Sales of tickets prior to events are made through glor. Please see their website for the glor privacy policy.


Personal Information Access and Security

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

You are entitled to view, amend, or delete the personal information that we hold.

We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties unless we have your permission or are required by Irish law to do so.

Accepting the policy and modifications

By using our website and submitting information to us, you signify your acceptance of this Privacy Policy. EBCF reserves the right to modify or amend this statement at any time. The effective date is displayed on the statement.

Facebook Conversion Tracking Pixel

We may from time to time use Facebook Advertising, Facebook Pixel Re-Marketing, and communications. This tool allows us to understand and deliver ads and make them more relevant to you. The collected data remains anonymous and we cannot see the personal data of any individual user.

However, the collected data is saved and processed by Facebook. Facebook may be able to connect the data with your Facebook account and use the data for their own advertising purposes (in accordance with Facebook’s Data Use Policy). Facebook has ultimate control of the information gathered through Facebook Advertising, Facebook Pixel Re-Marketing, and communications. You can opt out of Facebook’s use of cookies and Facebook Pixel Re-Marketing through settings on your Facebook Account.
