Marian Keyes is one of Ireland’s most successful novelists. She studied law and accountancy and turned to short story writing in 1993 ‘out of the blue’. Watermelon, published in 1995, was an instant success with readers and Marian’s appeal quickly spread to the UK and the US. Her work is now published in thirty three languages.
A prolific writer, she has published 13 novels all of which have been bestsellers. Anybody Out There won the British Book Award for Popular Fiction and This Charming Man won the Irish Book Award for Popular Fiction. In 2009, she suffered from depression. Having recovered, she went on to publish Saved by Cake in 2012 in which she attributes part of her survival to baking cakes. She shares her favourite recipes with her many millions of readers through the book.
