Kit de Waal was born in Birmingham to an Irish mother and Kittian father. She worked for fifteen years in criminal and family law and writes about the urban underbelly, forgotten and overlooked places where the best stories are found.
She has been awarded the Bridport Flash Fiction Prize 2014, the SI Leeds Literary Reader’s Choice Prize 2014 and second place in both the Costa Short Story Award 2014 and the Bath Short Story Award 2014.
She has an MA in Creative Writing from Oxford Brookes University and is a founder member of Leather Lane Writers and Oxford Narrative Group. Her first novel, My Name is Leon, to be published in summer 2016, will be the subject of her discussion at the Ennis Book Club Festival 2016.
