Ionbhá: The Empathy Book for Ireland

In this event we will explore some of the reflections on empathy contained within the book Ionbhá: The Empathy Book for Ireland along with two of the contributors, in a wide-ranging conversation about joy in the everyday.

Ionbhá or empathy is a core element of wisdom and a universal language of the soul. In the book, reflections on empathy illuminate its healing properties, opening our eyes to the ways in which its power can shape us all.

Contributors to the book include Michael D. Higgins, Hozier, Tolü Makay, The Edge, Rachael Blackmore, Blindboy Boatclub, Mary Coughlan, Brendan O’Connor, Louise O’Neill, Valerie Biden Owens and citizens from all walks of life.

In this event, EBCF Artistic Director Martina Durac will be in conversation with 3 of the contributors to the book – Clodagh Finn, Irish Examiner columnist, journalist and author; Peter McVerry, who more than four decades has committed himself to the welfare of the homeless; and breathtaking singer Tolü Makay, whose performances on RTÉ were the salve we needed during the pandemic.
