Meeting Eavan Boland – Her Life and Legacy
A celebration of the life and legacy of one of Ireland’s most gifted and influential poets. It will feature poets Nessa O’Mahony, John O’Donnell and Annemarie Ní Churreáin in conversation with journalist Olivia O’Leary.
Of her poetry, Eavan said “I wanted to put the life I lived into the poems I wrote. And the life I lived was a woman’s life. And I couldn’t accept the possibility that the life of the woman would not, or could not, be named in the poetry of my own nation.”
The latest Poetry Ireland Review is an issue featuring personal tributes and reflections along with essays focusing on collections and individual poems from Boland’s oeuvre. With this event, we celebrate Eavan Boland’s life as a poet, mother, and teacher.
