In Sarah Gilmartin’s Service, conflicting memories of the same events send the characters reeling. Mike McCormack’s This Plague of Souls is set in his own county of Mayo. A man returns to his house in a rural landscape after a long absence to find his wife and child gone. There follows a mysterious series of phone calls with a stranger. Against a backdrop of vague terror in the outside world, he sets out for a meeting. Derek Hand, Executive Dean of Humanities at DCU, will moderate this event.
