The Art of Reading Book Club
Ennis Book Club Festival is very pleased that its first event of 2023, and the launch of the festival, will be in association with the Arts Council of Ireland.
Colm Tóibín, the Laureate for Irish Fiction, will present The Art of Reading, a monthly book club for library book clubs across the country. In this event, Colm will join us online from the US and will be in conversation with Louise Kennedy who will be in person with us in Ennis to discuss her brilliant debut novel, Trespasses.
This tender and bruising book details an affair between a young Catholic teacher and an older Protestant barrister, set against the backdrop of tensions in the North of Ireland of 1975. It is a masterfully executed and intimate portrait of a moment in history and the personal lives of those caught in the crossfire.
Please note that the launch is from 6.30pm and the Art of Reading event starts at 7.30pm sharp.
