Ian McEwan in conversation with John Self

Ennis Book Club Festival is delighted to welcome Ian McEwan to the festival, to explore his many books and their themes. Known for the precision and clarity of his writing, McEwan’s work explores the turmoil of human interactions in the private and public spheres, the role of class difference, family relationships and loss. The language of his books is eloquent and expressive, yet restrained. McEwan won the Booker Prize with Amsterdam. His next novel, Atonement, garnered acclaim and was adapted into an Oscar-winning film. His later novels have included The Children Act, Enduring Love, Nutshell, Machines Like Me, On Chesil Beach, and Lessons. Ian McEwan will be talking with arts journalist and presenter of Arena, Seán Rocks*, in a wide-ranging discussion.
*Due to unforseen circumstances, Seán Rocks cannot join us for this event. We are delighted to say that Ian will be interviewed by book critic and author John Self. John has written for numerous publications including The New York Times, The Guardian and the Irish Times. John has interviewed Ian McEwan on a number of occasions and is deeply familiar with his work.
