The Beyond Borders Book Club

This event offers the great discovery of writing from countries beyond Ireland, recommended by guests who have personal connections to those places. Our guests this year are Tarsila Krüse, author and illustrator, Amanie Issa, PhD researcher and Hardiman Scholar at the Irish Centre for Human Rights and the Centre for Disability Law and Policy, NUIG and Zainab Boladale, journalist and TV presenter. They will be in conversation with writer Sarah Clancy.

Beyond Borders  is a chance to connect to narratives and perspectives from other places and represents a link in the chain of what connects us all around the world, despite the differences in our lives and societies.

Tarsila will discuss The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, a blend of spirituality, magical realism and folklore. Amanie will explore Mornings in Jenin by Susan Abulhawa, a story of faith, forgiveness and life-sustaining love. Zainab will talk about The Girl With The Louding Voice by Abi Daré, a teenage girl grows up in a rural Nigerian village and longs to get an education so that she can find her “louding voice” and speak up for herself.

Tickets FREE from glór box office on 065 6843103 or online here.
