Climate Fiction – Abi Daré & Caoilinn Hughes in conversation with Will Govan

In this panel, we are delighted to welcome Abí Daré, winner of the inaugural Climate Fiction Prize 2025 for And So I Roar and Caoilinn Hughes, a New York Times Editor’s Choice for her novel The Alternatives. They will be in conversation with Will Govan, co-founder of Irish literary journal, The Moth.

Daré has said of her latest book  “I wanted to explore the lives of rural women and girls navigating inequality, silence and survival. But the deeper I went, the more I saw how environmental collapse bleeds into everything, how in many parts of rural Africa, climate injustice is more felt than understood”.

The Irish Times described The Alternatives thus, “Superb’ is the only word for this novel of four brilliant Irish sisters navigating their way through the perverse challenges of late-stage capitalism…expect a timely, sly and frequently hilarious read, a rollicking story that portrays the bonds of sisterhood not as an idealised constant but as a messy, fluid and utterly human state of being. Bravo.”
