Debut Authors Elaine Garvey, Claire Gleeson and Shane Tivenan in conversation with Eoin Devereux
Show Me Where It Hurts is a novel about how to survive in the face of unbelievable loss. This first novel by Claire Gleeson explores perceptively and with great delicacy the shattering of a family.
Shane Tivenan’s wonderfully named collection of stories, To Avenge a Dead Glacier, is a tour de force that looks with sensitivity and wit on the lives of ordinary outsiders, the observers and the isolated. It is both bracing and imbued with pathos.
Elaine Garvey sets her debut novel in London and Ireland in the colourful world of the theatre, where the protagonist of The Wardrobe Department searches for a way to belong and understand the past.
All these books are beautifully written and we are delighted to give these talented writers a platform at the festival. They will be in conversation with Eoin Devereux. With expertise in popular music and media Professor, Eoin is a cultural sociologist, writer and experimental musician who teaches at the University of Limerick.
